I think the year should start in September, when the freesias open and bloom. The sun is grinning again but the nights still bite my toes. It is the season for birthdays.
(Of course it’s still July and I have to make do with african daisies.)

It’s going to be the end of winter where you are, no…? I’ve always thought spring is best for birthdays :) The light is so fresh.
Yes it’s still winter, though Spring is just around the corner.
I agree with every word;
and by the way, i love this fairytale, i cant wait to come back and turn the pages to come.
Ah but I am partial to the dead of winter – birthdays, coats, tights, and scalding tea for me!
I love wearing stockings, but by August I am longing for sunshine and flowers.
Fressias are very pretty.
But I’m glad the new years starts in January, because my birthday is the very next day ^.^
Oh, how lucky to be a new year’s baby!
Your hair is so beautiful. For me, the year starts in February!
Where I live, July and August seem to be the time of year for birthdays and sunshine. Those are the best kind of months. :)
I agree … I love September light, how it tips the grass golden like a painter … and the crisp apples and cinnamon teas and swish-swish-swish of walking through leaves (I live in Maine, so the trees don their party dresses here …)
How glad I am that I found my way here. It is so very very beautiful. Your enchanting words and thoughts have taken my breath away. So inspiring.
beautiful picture and beautiful post <3
My mother and I have decided to plant freesias some time soon. I love the white freesias best! My birthday is in winter unfortunately, but I do like making snowmans and snow angels!
Oh, they are. Freesias smell like heaven in the morning. You won’t regret it.

I love September. It’s nearly August, September is that much closer ^^
That picture is so pretty, your hair looks beautiful.
When you talk about seasons, I wish I could live on the other side of the world, too, I always want the season I can’t have. It also makes me a little nauseous, because I should be planning my year abroad right now (I want to go to Australia), but I’m scared.
Australia isn’t scary, its a very easy place to visit I think. Where are you planning to stay?
that is so strange. brought up in kindergarten they taught me the year started in september. so mentally when i hear anything about sept/oct i automatically see it first… strange….
It does for a lot of schools in the Northern Hemisphere. I grew up reading british school stories and Manga so it makes sense to me.
I agree with you, I think the year should start in September too…it just seems right, with all the kids going back to school, the seasons changing…
Love the picture you have this post too, the flowers remind me of a picture I took once…maybe I’ll post it soon.
xoxo,
Micaela
School years start in January here. I would love to see your flower picture.

i just found your blog and it’s very cute! i’m so glad to have stumbled across it.
I agree, beautiful blog! xxx
your blog is oh so lovely (:
My birthday is in September =O
But I live in the forest so all of the flowers are pretty much gone by then, and leaves start to lose their color. :<
Mine is in October, its the one thing I like about being Southern Hemisphere.
your blog is beautiful. i adore your writing and your pictures.

I agree I lovethe fall. Its so lovely to take an stroll and look out at the changes that going on outside.
Princess, your site is wonderfully beautiful. Thank you very much! As a male, I may see some things different than most of your readers. But the “princess” concept is a delight to all.
Your photo of “Sun-kissed promises,” for instance, shows a flower and hair. To me, the natural direction is “scent,” followed by “touch.” “The burnt woods” images of you evoke images of someone fully comfortable with herself, not afraid to get a bit dirty, same with the “Autumn’s ending” photos. They are powerful images, indeed.
My favorite remains the “Autumn’s ending” photo of you, barefoot, on a bench. With no attention to the neatness of your hair, no worry that your dress shows a bit of leg and light shines through it, you show a perfect level of confidence. My father would have probably called it a “go to hell” pose — not in a bad way, just in a “this is me” way.
You should give lessons. The world needs more like you.
If you ever become bored, I am certain that some of us would like to see your “child” and “teen” pictures. And any pictures of you nose-to-nose with any animals.
With respect,
W
