My Room

Paper stairs

Paper Bath

Paper Fire

I want to be a little paper doll and live in my paper house and wear paper clothes with the white tabs for fit. Everything would be neat and light and bright with the smiles drawn on and the beds always made. I would be a little worried about the rain though.

  1. Oh I so want to make my perfect little house and little paper versions of me and my friends, complete with fashionable paper wardrobes and a library filled to the brim with…paper books. Har har, how odd with that be…books made of paper :)

When I was in third grade my friends and I made paper palaces, with a sheet of A4 for each room and Princess dolls with fancy ballgowns. I wish I still had them.

You can make books out of other things I guess?

      • Well I suppose there are ebooks which are made of…cyber magic lol.

I guess that brings up the question: how far can you change the conventional form of ‘book’ before it ceases to be one? Some artist’s books deal with that sort of thing conceptually…

Oh, that Paper house is adorable!! *o*
I want it!! I always loved to make stuff like this, but mine never were as detailed as this one!! it’s beautiful!!
I never made a comment on the other one (if I remember correctly..)
I love it so much, everything you’ve written has gave me hope, thank you!!

      Than you sweet one <3

I didn’t make this, my paper dolls and houses were always a little less sophisticated.

  4. That is so beautiful.

    This made me smile :3~
I’ve seen a book of paper doll houses in the book store, but I forget what its called. It’s very pretty though.

    • Skylark said:

Oh, is it a book with photos like this? Or does it have several doll houses in it?

I love doll houses, but I don’t have room for a real one, so a book is good.

I wouldn’t say no to living inside that house either (that would be some lovely winter evenings by the fire place), but I would miss my joints terribly much.

I would very much like a claw foot bath like this one, I think that’s my favourite bit.

This post reminds me of an advent calendar my family had one year, a little 3d Victorian house that had all sorts of doors and windows that folded out. Let’s see if I can’t find it… ah, this.

Rain would be a distressing thought if one were to reside in a paper house; also hail (disastrous) or very strong winds. The pictures are cute — but I’d miss being three dimensional, I think.

    • Skylark said:

That is so cute, you open a window each day?

I think being two dimensional for a while would be quite an adventure, but it probably would get tiresome.

It’s an absolutely darling little paper house. Everything is so detailed from the children’s room to the front door.

I miss the simplicity of childhood. Paper dolls were all the rage then, remember?

    • Skylark said:

It is amazingly detailed, there are even little cuboards to open and see what’s inside.

I used to have such fun with paper, it seems so long ago.

i have this book! i was looking at the picture thinking it looked familiar, but then i saw the cover and, yes, it’s just the same! it’s lovely, isn’t it? my copy was a present from my mother when i turned 11. i was at that stage where little girls are desperate not to be considered little girls anymore, and to admit to liking dolls and fairies and pretty things would be to admit defeat, but i couldn’t help but squeal when i ripped off the wrappings to find such a beautiful picture book.

    • Skylark said:

What luck! I was given this my my Mother too, about that age I think.. I don’t quite remember. I’m glad we both kept ours.

Oh… such a beautiful book/paper house… but somehow I prefer to live in my world that is not made of paper… this way I donĀ“t have to worry about the rain.

Hello, I hope I’m not too late in commenting!

I absolutely adore dolls and everything of the sort, and as a child I tried to make paper dolls, but I suppose I didn’t do it correctly? But anyways, could you, Miss Skylark, tell me how to make a paper doll house?

*pretty pretty please with a cherry on top, and with sprinkles? nobody can resist homemade cupcakes!*

    heehee xx rosebud

      You’re never too late Rosbud.

I don’t know how to make one though, this one is a pop-up book that folds out and ties together. It was given me as a gift.

I’m sure you could make your own if you tried though <3

  15. Very pretty :) I like your use of lighting!

Oh yes, sometimes I wish I could be a little paper doll in such a neat home, too. The rain and wind would be a little bit dangerous, just as mentioned before, but in every other thing it would be… just so nice. And quiet.
And the claw foot bath is really lovely. ^^

    • Skylark said:

It would be quiet, just the sound of the breeze ruffling the paper leaves of the trees outside.

I dream of having a clawfoot bath.

    This is adorable!

My sister and I have a paper doll house too. It is so pretty I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it when we were cleaning a lot of old things out of our rooms. I saved a lot of the paper dolls actually. There were too many good memories attached from when I was little. I liked paper dolls better than most other toys.

Oh my gosh, I had this EXACT book! I’ve had it since I was a little baby. It’s a bit torn and dribbled on, but that just showed how much i loved to play with it!

What a surprise! I had a very similar book when I was little, and I still use it for my mini-blythes ^^
Some day I will show photographs of it, they are very beautiful houses, I wish I could live in it!

OH MY GOSH!!! i have this book from when i was little it was one of my favourites!!! i spend hours fixing it all the time because it is so tattered from my little cousins using it : ) they love it as much as i did.

  25. Brittanie said:

this is so gorgeous! i’m curious what it’s called, or where you got it? i’ve been looking for paper doll houses like these but i haven’t found any that weren’t extremely expensive because they’re antiques..

  26. Alana said:

Wow, I had this same book when I was little! I never got to play though, because I hated playing by myself, had no friends, and it didn’t help that I lost all of the dolls.
